Project: Miller Children's Clinic
Role & Responsibilities: Principal-in-Charge, Primary Client Contact, Programming and Planning
While a visit to the doctor’s office is not typically an experience one looks forward to, Miller Children’s Hospital has a history of providing quality healthcare services to children of low-income families and children with physical, mental and/or emotional considerations. In order to make way for the new Miller Children’s Pediatric Addition the Children’s Clinic was relocated from the basement of the hospital to an outpatient building on the hospital campus. The move allowed the Children’s Clinic to increase their treatment space as well as consolidate services that had previously been located in numerous locations.
- Improved patient accessibility
- Large waiting room for patients and their families
- Education Center
- Administrative Offices
- Treatment areas for:
- General Healthcare
- Specialty Treatment Rooms
Children visiting this clinic often walk in the door with issues beyond why they are being treated. Our job as the architects and planners was to work with the Children’s staff to create an environment that met all of the clinic needs and also provided an aesthetic that was fun, energetic and had an element of distraction.
Work shown in this project was done while Rick Savely was employed with another architectural firm.
